If Broadway can be consumed by a rap musical about a lesser-known figure of American history, surely there’s room in the public consciousness for ever more ukulele music.
My Hamilton Knock-Offs
Now that we know there’s a market for this sort of thing, here are a few ideas for new musical.
“Folly!”
Folly! is the story of one man named Seward’s dream of annexing part of Russia to the United States. Songs include, “Is That an Isthmus (or Is It Ain’t)?” and “Igloo, You-gloo, We All-gloo for Igloo.”
“Wig Out!”
The fashion craze that swept that the pre-nation told in a dance form. Frequent cries of “Come on, everybody–wig out!” We see the Revolution through the eyes of an up and coming wig powder manufacturer, eager to make his name as big as as the hairstyles.
“Hello, Dolly–No, a Different Dolly, Dolly Madison”
A sure-fire hit, assuming we can find a marquee big enough for the title.
“You Bought What?”
The untold story of the Louisiana Purchase. Told in four acts, The Purchase; The Buyers’ Remorse; The Argument with Spouse; The Return and Purchase More Cheaply at Amazon.
Let’s get these out there!
